At an official ceremony last night, the winners of the BAIT Awards 2024 competition were honored.
Vladimir Koylazov, co-founder of Chaos and leader of Chaos Innovation Lab, and Mois Moshev, head of the innovation and development team at the visual effects studio Bottleship VFX, presented the Special Contribution Award to Dimitrina Todorova, Director of the “Professional High School of Computer Programming and Innovation”, Burgas.
Ms. Todorova has been the director of the school since its establishment in 2018. She is the driving force behind this project, which is a joint venture of the Burgas Municipality and the IT business in the person of 3 associations, including BAIT, with the aim of creating professionals for technology companies in Bulgaria. Extremely committed to the cause of high-level vocational education, Dimitrina Todorova is ready to share her experience and help create other similar schools in the country.
In the conversation that opened the ceremony, Vladimir Koylazov revealed to the audience the latest innovations that the Bulgarian company is implementing – films can now be shot in front of LED screens, and thanks to the new software, this is done quickly, easily and with high photorealism. Companies from the creative industries need inspired and knowledgeable young people, and for this purpose Chaos is creating its own academy in which to create professionals. The visual effects studio BottleShip VFX has its own policy for hiring interns, who subsequently become part of the team, Moise Moshev pointed out.
The winners
A team of students from TU-Sofia won the prize in the Youth Award category with Solar Reviver . Alex Novkov, Teodora Savcheva, Alexander Hadzhidimitrov have developed an autonomous robot for cleaning solar panels, as well as a monitoring system for monitoring the robot’s performance in real time.
After a competitive competition between 12 educational programs and partnerships, the winner in the Educational Award category is the Faculty of Economics of Sofia University for “Symbiosis for the Future: Science, Business and Professional Education for Technological Progress”. The program is implemented together with the Burgas Branch of Sofia University and the Professional High School of Computer Programming and Innovations – Burgas. In 2023, the High School acquires the status of a lyceum at Sofia University and in less than a year the applied innovative educational model is established as a successful example in Burgas and in the country. Thanks to the cooperation, the scientific and educational capacity of the University is integrated in the preparation of the next generation of professionals in the field of artificial intelligence.
For journalistic contribution, it was awarded to Zone4Tech, which creates video podcasts and content aimed at the Bulgarian ICT sector. The podcast “TECH Stories” shows the stories of successful people from the ICT sector in the country and tracks the development of the industry in our country and the challenges it overcomes. And in the discussion format “TECHNICIAN’S VIEW” it meets the opinions of two specialists with different expertise on technological topics and examines current problems in the world of technology.
In the Public Administration category, the award went to Sofia Municipality for the civic participation platform “Decide Sofia”. Through it, Sofia citizens can actively participate in the “Ideas for the City” program – to vote for projects under citywide and regional civic budgets.
TouchMenu with Virtual Concierge took the Startup award in this edition of the competition. The web – based platform gives hotel guests access to all services by scanning a single QR code, creating a personalized and eco-friendly experience.
For Successful ICT Product/Service, the jury awarded Logisoft with High-speed conveyor sorting solutions for courier and online retail businesses. The product is a single-deck or multi-deck conveyor road with a circular or linear structure that automatically transports goods from the points where they are fed to the points where they need to reach.
In the category for digitalization of processes and activities in various fields of activity – ICT project successfully implemented in a company outside the ICT sector, Taveks was honored for implementing Shredy – an electronic employee file. The company implements a paperless approach to managing document flow between employer and employee, taking advantage of the easy interface and the ability to customize processes according to its own needs.
The awards
The winners were awarded with plaques and certificates from BAIT, as well as with prizes from the sponsors of the competition.
The winners received annual subscriptions to the Ciela Normi legal information systems and vouchers, the value of which the winners can use to purchase books from Ciela bookstores.
Cantek gave each of the winners a Canon PIXMA G3430 multifunctional device (wireless, print, copy, scan).
